Permission Agreements: Empowering Your Credit Union’s Voice

Your credit union may have already signed a permission agreement or been asked to recently, and you may be wondering, what is that?

The permission agreement is a document that allows the League staff and America’s Credit Union staff to speak with you and your credit union about America’s Credit Union PAC (Political Action Committee).

America’s Credit Unions PAC is the premier political action committee (PAC) of the credit union system and, in partnership with state leagues, is our primary means of supporting pro-credit union candidates for office.

Signing the permission agreement allows your credit union to receive information about the PAC. We are working towards 100% of our credit unions having a current permission agreement.

You may still have questions about the PAC and the permission agreement. Contact Debbie Painter (dpainter@yourleague.org) with any further questions or to sign yours today!

Q: Why is the permission agreement so important?

A: With a signed agreement, we must talk to you and your members about the PAC. For example, we want you to attend our fundraisers, such as the CULAC Sweepstakes! Sign your permission agreement today!

Q: What is a permission agreement?

A: A permission agreement is a document signed by the CEO of a credit union or someone with decision-making authority that allows CULAC to communicate with that credit union about CULAC and solicit donations to CULAC.

Q: Will the League solicit my employees or members without me knowing?

A: While CULAC will contact previous donors, the League will never solicit your employees or members without your knowledge and coming to you first. We want to work with you on CULAC fundraising.

Q: Do I have to sign a permission agreement each year?

A: Permission agreements are only good for a calendar year, but you are permitted to sign it for up to 5 years when you sign it.
