UT Federal Credit Union (UTFCU), headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, was chosen as Credit Union of the Year by the National Association of Federally-Insured Credit Unions (NAFCU). UT Federal Credit Union was honored during NAFCU’s Virtual Congressional Caucus in Washington, D.C. on September 14th.
UTFCU was selected for the award based upon their financial growth in 2019 as well as their community service project, 50 Acts for 50 Years, in which the credit union celebrated their 50th anniversary by conducting 50 acts of kindness.
The credit union’s President/CEO Debbie H. Jones, CPA notes, “Giving back to our owners and their communities is at the core of who we are and why we’re here. We are extremely proud to add the 50 Acts for 50 Years celebration to our ongoing commitment and dedication to those we serve. She added, “We are honored to have received the Credit Union of the Year designation, awarded in part for this People Helping People philosophy that we carry out as a credit union every single day.”
This year’s NAFCU Annual Awards Competition honored eight winners in total and was selected by a committee of credit union leaders. Nominees for CEO of the Year, Credit Union of the Year, Professional of the Year, and Volunteer of the Year were judged in two categories: credit unions with assets of more than $250 million and those with assets of $250 million or less. UTFCU was a winner among credit unions with more than $250 million in assets.
Annual Awards Competition winners were celebrated during the conference and will be profiled in the November-December 2020 edition of The NAFCU Journal magazine.
