The Donelson-Hermitage Chamber of Commerce recently hosted the 5th Annual Influencing Women Awards. The program aims to recognize women who lead the way in business, industry, enterprise and community, along with the organizations and individuals that champion women leaders. The recipients of six of these themed awards go through a process of being locally nominated and voted on by their community.
“I want to take a moment to recognize one of these recipients as Jessica Ashby from US Community Credit Union for receiving the Woman to Watch award for the evening,” said Katie Zumbro, marketing/business development professional, at MPD Community Credit Union, who helped plan the awards event.
The Woman to Watch award recognizes a businesswoman under 40 who has demonstrated success and vision, made noteworthy contributions and is on her way to making a meaningful imprint on the future of her organization and the local community.
“I’m proud to not only know Jessica personally, but to work in our industry, which allows us to recognize that there is a special bond between credit unions,” said Zumbro. “We are both business development professionals in our own respective credit unions but there is no competition, only collaboration, respect and admiration for what it is we get to do. When our members, and their success, are our forethought how can there be?
This award doesn’t just shed light on her efforts, but to credit unions and our industry. We really are a movement, and people are noticing, encouraging, supporting and voting for it. She’s an incredible difference-maker and deserves the recognition, support and praise. We support each other—she and I serve on the same committee. I celebrate with her, our credit union supports and celebrates her credit union and you do not find that in any other industry, guaranteed.”
