United Southeast Federal Credit Union (USFCU) hosted their 3rd Annual Flags of Gratitude cookout at the Credit Union’s corporate headquarters located at 1545 Bluff City Highway in Bristol, TN on Friday May 26. Military Veterans, soldiers, police, emergency responders and other law enforcement officials attended the event.
“For the past three years, we have had the tremendous honor to recognize the men and women that are serving, or have served in one of the branches of our military, law enforcement, firefighting or emergency medical services in our community, said USFCU CEO, Janice Jones. “We have numerous members of our Credit Union that serve and protect our country and our cities. This is why each year we take time to honor not only them, but also members of our community for their sacrifices.”
The Credit Union served hotdogs with fixings on the lawn area of the Credit Union. Numerous veterans from World War II, Korea, Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan attended with their families. Police officers, firefighters and EMS workers from Bristol, Tennessee, Bristol, Virginia and surrounding areas also attended.
“There is no way we can fully appreciate the sacrifices of the men and women who have served our nation or who serve our nation and community,” said USFCU Vice President of Business Development Tiffany Goforth. “This event is just one small way we can pause to recognize them and those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.”
In each of the six branches during the month of May, memorial flags are sold for a dollar donation. Each dollar raised is contributed to Operation Gratitude, an organization that prepares care packages of essential items for men and women in the armed forces that are serving overseas.
“Sending a care package is just one small way we can honor our active military men and women that are deployed overseas,” added Jones, whose son and daughter, and son-in-law are currently in the military.
