Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) is pleased to announce that its 28th Annual Golf Classic raised over $75,000 to benefit education-focused nonprofits.
From the funds, $30,000 will benefit Students Taking a Right Stand (STARS)—a nonprofit that addresses issues to support a healthy school climate to enhance academic success in Hamilton County Schools. The remaining proceeds will primarily benefit Junior Achievement, which provides services within TVFCU’s 17-county service area. Junior Achievement works to prepare young people for success by providing lessons on financial literacy, work and career readiness and business ownership.
“Seeing the Golf Classic grow over nearly three decades has been an inspiring journey,” said Tammy Zumbrun, TVFCU director of marketing and community relations. “It’s a testament to the power of community partnerships in creating brighter futures for our youth.”
TVFCU hosted the 28th Annual TVFCU Golf Classic this fall at Black Creek Golf Course. The classic featured two flights—one in the morning and one after lunch—with 175 players total.
“It’s always an honor to take part in this incredible event,” said Ryan Henn, AVP of business and commercial services at TVFCU. “The Golf Classic never disappoints—from the beautiful course and delicious food to the engaging activities and perfect weather. I can’t wait to see what’s in store for next year!”
Through TVFCU’s golf classic, STARS continues to invest in Hamilton County Schools. STARS is having a powerful impact in improving the school culture by utilizing empathy-based student training. For instance, their Move2Stand training for secondary school teams resulted in a 33% reduction in anti-social interactions.
“Student training is crucial to improving school climate, and the funding from TVFCU has been a tremendous support to this service,” said Karen Glenn, interim director for STARS. “We want to help the next generation get the best education possible and to be successful, and TVFCU plays a big role in helping us to achieve this goal.”
