TriStar Advocacy Update – Early February, 2021

Things are starting to ramp up in Nashville at the General Assembly this month. Last Monday night, Governor Bill Lee gave his State of the State address to the legislative bodies, kicking off the main course of the legislative session. Of note in the speech was a proposal to spend $200 million on bringing broadband internet throughout Tennessee, spreading it into the state’s rural and underserved areas. Details for this proposal are, at this stage, extremely light, but we are encouraged by the direction the political winds are blowing on this issue. We will keep you updated on where this is heading, including reviewing the bill once it is filed.
