This Week (and Next Week) in Advocacy News

It’s been a busy last few weeks for Team Governmental Affairs. We opened July with the first of our three part advocacy webinar series entitled “Elections, Credit Union’s Role in them, and a 2020 Outlook,” which discussing the earliest portion of the legislative process– getting elected in the first place. Last week, we took things a step further by talking about the legislative process itself in our second webinar, “Bills Become Laws: The Legislative Process in DC and Nashville and Where Credit Unions Fit In.”

This week, we wrapped up the third advocacy webinar series “Being Your Credit Union’s Best Advocate: Advocacy Training” as preparation heading into our first TCUL Hike @ Home, with virtual meetings between Tennessee’s credit union advocates and our federally elected officials. (More on that in a moment…)

Also this week, we’re rolling out the new TriStar Advocacy Program. This is the Tennessee Credit Union League’s program for grassroots, advocacy, and PAC support. Our goal is to continue to build our influence and profile in both Nashville and Washington D.C. For more information and how to join, visit our TriStar Advocacy Program page…

Now, onto next week. Be on the lookout for our Hike @ Home invitations and talking points and join us for meetings with your members of Congress. Those meetings will take place throughout next week, July 20-24.
