Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union (TVFCU) is excited to announce the appointment of Babar Khawaja as the new director of consumer lending. This strategic addition to TVFCU’s leadership team reinforces TVFCU’s dedication to enhancing its services and delivering exceptional value to its members.

“We are thrilled to welcome Babar to our team at TVFCU,” said Eric Weekley, vice president of mortgage and consumer lending. “With more than 17 years of experience in the financial services industry, including 14 years focused specifically on consumer lending, Babar brings extensive knowledge and expertise that will be instrumental in advancing our consumer lending operations.”

Babar Khawaja joins TVFCU following his tenure at Cedar Point Federal Credit Union in Southern Maryland, where he played a key role in aligning the credit union’s people, processes, technology and lending policy to positively impact members and the community. His experience and strategic approach are expected to further strengthen TVFCU’s consumer lending initiatives.

Originally from Houston, Texas, Khawaja’s education and career have taken him across the country, including New Mexico, Arizona, California, New York, Maryland and now Tennessee. He began his career in lending as a credit analyst and has since held roles, such as indirect lending manager, consumer lending manager and chief lending officer. Throughout his career, he has developed a deep acumen in credit analysis, process improvement, product development, risk management, lending strategy and building purpose-driven teams.

“I have worked with credit unions since 2012 and have more than 17 years of experience in the financial services arena,” said Khawaja. “I am passionate about the credit union movement and helping the community achieve both economic and social goals.”

TVFCU looks forward to the leadership Khawaja will bring in enhancing consumer lending operations.
