The Tennessee Credit Union League’s Legislative and Regulatory Forum 2025 is in the books after a fantastic meeting of credit union leaders from across Tennessee at Nashville’s famous Hermitage Hotel earlier this week.
Credit union advocates heard from a variety of elected officials, including Congressman John Rose, Secretary of State Tre Hargett, Treasurer David Lillard, State Senator Paul Bailey and State Representative Tom Stinnett. In addition, Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions Commissioner Greg Gonzales gave an update to the group.
The League’s Advocacy Team also recognized Chairman Paul Bailey as the TriStar Advocacy State Legislator of the Year for his commitment to helping advance credit unions in Tennessee.
Among the themes from this year’s meeting, perhaps the most important was how advocacy is everyone’s responsibility and is not just job number one for advocacy professionals, but even for industry professionals.
“Advocacy has always been a team sport, and now, more than ever we all have to come together and do our part,” said Sarah Waters, chief advocacy officer at the Tennessee Credit Union League. “Everyone has a role to play in advocating for the credit union difference.”
2025 is shaping up to be quite the busy year in advocacy and, as always, the Tennessee League will be there every step of the way.
Sarah Waters, the League’s chief advocacy officer, and Matt Coniglio, the League’s director of advocacy, present Chairman Paul Bailey with the TriStar Advocacy State Legislator of the Year Award.
