Tennessee Credit Unions Help Others During the 2024 Holiday Season

During the holidays, Tennessee credit unions gave back to their communities through an array of service projects. Some credit unions spread holiday cheer by participating in community Christmas parades others helped Santa by collecting gifts.

Here’s how some Tennessee credit unions helped advance their local communities.

Ascend Federal Credit Union

Ascend Federal Credit Union donated more than $48,000 to help individuals and families have access to food during the holidays and provide targeted food distribution efforts in communities of need. The donation includes a $20,500 donation to sponsor 12 Second Harvest mobile markets, $25,000 for the nonprofit’s holiday campaign, and $3,348 donated by credit union employees and members. Clinchfield Federal Credit Union

Clinchfield Federal Credit Union kicked off the holiday season by serving as a collection location for Coats for Appalachia, which were especially needed with the flooding from Hurricane Helene. Credit union employees also participated in the annual tree lighting and the Unicoi County Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade. Learn more.

Copper Basin Federal Credit Union participated in two community Christmas parades, hosted a special visitor from the North Pole and had a couple of team-building holiday activities. Learn more.

Cornerstone Financial Credit Union

Cornerstone Financial Credit Union supported area nonprofits, including the American Cancer Society, Ronald McDonald House Nashville, and Wags and Walks of Nashville during the holiday season. Learn more.

Eastman Credit Union

Eastman Credit Union’s board of directors once again approved an Extraordinary Dividend to be paid to members in January 2025 bringing the grand total returned to $209 million since 1998. Learn more.

Leaders Credit Union

Leaders Credit Union served 17 community groups and gave over $8,500 through their Leaders with Love projects. These projects gave employees at Leaders the unique opportunity to spread Christmas cheer to an organization or nonprofit they are passionate about serving. Learn more.

ORNL Federal Credit Union

ORNL Federal Credit Union surprised 10 members by completely paying off their auto loans. Plus, two more members were chosen to have their mortgage payments covered for an entire year. Learn more.

Southern Security

Southern Security partnered with Youth Villages for the West Tennessee Holiday Heroes initiative, making the holiday season brighter for local youth in need. Team members volunteered at the Youth Villages Holiday Workshop, wrapping, packing and sorting gifts for distribution at upcoming Youth Villages Christmas parties. The credit union also fulfilled holiday wish lists for 24 youth across two cabins, ensuring every child experienced the magic of the season. Learn more.

Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union

Tennessee Valley Federal Credit Union employees and community members worked together to provide holiday gift bags for about 185 children and senior adults this year through The Salvation Army Angel Tree program, along with an estimated 390 additional gifts through various other programs in Tennessee and Northwest Georgia. This year’s donations marked the largest contribution to date, highlighting the strong community spirit of TVFCU employees and members. Learn more.

UT Federal Credit Union

UT Federal Credit Union hosted a surprise holiday visit to the Ben Atchley Tennessee State Veterans’ Home, a long-term care and residential facility for state veterans in Knoxville. The credit union group hand-delivered special gifts and treats. The visit was coordinated by UTFCU’s Kindness Committee, are part of a tradition of giving at the credit union, and are also part of UTFCU’s ongoing effort to give back to the community. Learn more.

Grocery Giveaway

Credit unions across the state joined forces for the Grocery Giveaway Campaign. Credit union volunteers awarded more than $62,000 to grocery shoppers during the week before Christmas. Learn more.
