Q&A with Leisa Massingill, Shared Branch Manager

Leisa Massingill, shared branch manager at the League, has spent more than 40 years in the finance industry, 36 of those at the League. Here’s a Q&A in honor of Leisa’s service to Tennessee credit unions. She will retire at the end of the year.

How long did you work at the League?

On my anniversary of December 15, I have been with the League for 36 years

Before starting at the League, did you work in the banking/credit union industry?

Yes, I worked at American National Bank in the Credit and Debit Card Department in Chattanooga for over 8 years.

Describe your first role at the League.

My first job at the League was in the Correspondent Credit Card Department. We did back office support and customer service for credit unions on the credit and debit card programs.

Looking back on your career, what has been your most rewarding accomplishment?

I have to say my 24 years running the Shared Branching Program was the most rewarding. Adding new credit unions to the program, training them, providing them ongoing support, and the friendships I made through those relationships.

What do you hope people will remember the most about you?

I hope they remember that I cared about the credit union movement and that I loved serving the credit unions.

What propelled you to stay within the credit union industry?

When you get a job that you love as much as I loved my job, it is very easy to stay in that job in that industry. Plus, the fact that credit unions care about their members and help them in any way they can. People helping People.

What’s next for you? What are you most looking forward to in retirement?

I am looking forward to having more time to make greeting cards and doing some scrapbooking of our family for my siblings and their children. Of course, not having to get up until I want to is a big plus as well.
