WELCOME To Tennessee Credit Unions

Tennessee Credit Unions

People Helping People

At the Tennessee Credit Union League, we proudly represent more than 125 not-for-profit, cooperative credit unions throughout the Volunteer State. More than 2.5 million Tennesseans belong to a credit union.

What is a credit union?

Credit unions are not-for-profit financial cooperatives owned by their members. Profits are returned to members through reduced fees, higher savings rates and lower loan rates.

Credit unions provide an array of financial services, including savings accounts, checking accounts, loans for cars, homes and businesses, credit cards, financial counseling and more.

How are credit unions different from banks?

Credit unions put people before profits. Credit unions are owned and controlled by the people, or members, who use their services.

While banks are owned by stockholders and must deliver profits to them, credit unions are not-for-profit cooperatives that are owned by the members using their services. Instead of returning profits to Wall Street, credit unions reinvest in their members and communities.

The Credit Union Difference

Credit unions ensure everyone has access to affordable financial services and the tools needed for smart financial decisions. From financial education and small business loans to charitable giving, credit unions build stronger communities and sustainable neighborhoods.

People Helping People

The credit union mission is simple: we are people helping people. We are committed to the financial well-being for all Tennesseans. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to thrive financially.
