ORNL FCU Invests in United Way, Employees Give Big

Each fall, ORNL Federal Credit Union (FCU) employees join together to raise funds for the United Way and the 2017 campaign exceeded expectations as employees lived the credit union motto ‘people helping people’. Together, ORNL FCU employees raised over $100,000 during the annual campaign; Over the last five years, ORNL FCU employees have raised over $400,000 for the United Way.

Over 55% of ORNL FCU employees participated in the 2017 internal giving campaign. The campaign was led by internal advocates who brought inspiration and energy to the fundraising efforts. The advocates included Chris Baxter, Michelle Carpenter, and Denise Walls.

“The purpose of our annual campaign is to better serve the communities where we live, work, and play,” said Baxter.

According to Carpenter, money raised for the United Way – including employee donations, ORNL FCU’s corporate donation, and internal fundraising activities – totaled $100,836.99.  This level of giving exceeded both internal goals and past levels of giving, setting a new record for the credit union and its employees.

“The success of our fundraising efforts is a direct reflection of the passion our employees have for their communities,” said Colin Anderson, ORNL FCU President & CEO. “Employees so are dedicated to helping our communities thrive, that this has become are a core belief of the organization.”
