The Northeast Tennessee Chapter of Credit Unions held its latest meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 11, in the Food City Press Room in Kingsport, Tenn. The event brought together approximately 40 credit union employees for an evening of networking, industry insights and discussions on emerging financial technologies
Attendees enjoyed a dinner before hearing from keynote speaker, Jeff Panko, key account executive from Volcorp. Panko delivered an informative presentation on FedNow and instant payments, emphasizing how instant payments are shaping the future of financial transactions. He provided a historical overview of the evolution of instant payments and explained how the system functions in today’s financial landscape.
In addition to Panko’s presentation, the audience heard from Caroline Bays with the Tennessee Credit Union League. Bays shared details about the upcoming Young Professionals Collective in February and highlighted the League’s collaboration with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) to combat Elder Abuse.
The meeting concluded shortly after 7 p.m. with a reminder of the upcoming events—the next Chapter meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 11, and the Vendor Fair on Tuesday, April 8, at the Renaissance Center in Kingsport.
Chapter leadership for this meeting included President Randel Taylor of Eastman Credit Union, Vice President Melanie McWhorter of Horizon Credit Union, Treasurer Vicki Gobble of Appalachian Community Federal Credit Union and Secretary Becky Walsh of United Southeast Federal Credit Union.
