Each year, we plan visits to our Congressional offices when we attend the Governmental Affairs Conference. One of the most powerful things we can discuss with our lawmakers is the number of credit union members in their congressional district.
We need your help! Even if you aren’t attending GAC, you can make a big impact by running Project Zip Code. We need all credit unions to run Project Zip Code as soon as possible. This helps ensure accurate data for when we advocate for Tennessee credit union members.
What is Project Zip Code (PZC)?
Project Zip Code (PZC) is a secure program that counts your credit union members and matches them by Congressional district, state legislative district and county. These numbers are uploaded to CUNA’s Project Zip Code website and combined with data from credit unions nationwide.
Why is Project Zip Code important?
This data aids in federal and state advocacy efforts. This information is especially important this year with the interchange legislation and upcoming election.
In addition to grassroots advocacy, PZC can help credit unions better serve their members. By using the Queries and Reports functions of PZC, you can see where your membership lives by state, county and zip code. These functions allow credit unions to better track where their members reside and is very useful in planning ATM expansion and shared branching.
