Elder Financial Abuse Hotline Update
Elder Financial Abuse is a significant issue in TN. Every day elderly members are victimized by family, friends, and strangers of their hard-earned life savings. The average loss for victims is more than $120,000. Detecting and reporting the abuse is one of the most important keys to stopping it.
Credit unions now have a new tool to report Elder Financial Abuse. On Thursday, March 13 at 2:00 p.m. ET, Special Agent Smith with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation will walk us through the new Hotline, how it works, and what to expect when your credit union makes a report.
