As credit unions, the first quarter signals a time of celebration. Many of you are preparing for annual meetings, board meetings and member appreciation events. Most of which will probably include your credit union serving a meal. Someone, or rather a group, is responsible for maintaining the guest list.
If a meal is being served, your credit union will ensure attendees receive their meal preference, their dietary needs are met, extra food is ordered, and plenty of ice is available, along with plates, napkins and cutlery. This checklist is simply part of serving our volunteer leaders and members. It is our credit union hospitality.
Now, let’s assume we are serving a meal to all Tennesseans. Twenty years ago the state population was 5.9 million. Today, more than 7.126 million people live in Tennessee. If you had to serve a meal, which number would you use?
Obviously, the most recent stat. Updated information matters.
Some credit unions are leaving people off the guest list.
Project Zip Code
Some credit unions in Tennessee have not run a report, Project Zip Code, to show how many credit union members live in their Congressional district, state legislative district, and county. This information is crucial as we enter this legislative session.
Regardless of your role, please ask, “When was the last time we ran Project Zip Code?”
We want to ensure all credit union members in Tennessee are on the guest list. This data-driven advocacy will help us to better advocate for Tennessee credit union members.
Let’s work together to ensure we have an updated guest list.
