Denley Hines Joins League as Consultant

The Tennessee Credit Union League is excited to announce that we recently brought Denley Hines onto our staff as a consultant to credit unions. Denley brings over 20 years of experience as a chief executive officer at Bowater Employees Credit Union. During Denley’s tenure at Bowater ECU, he transformed the credit union from a single sponsor with one onsite office to a community-based credit union with five offices with 55 full-time employees.

Denley’s experience includes the management of a $40 million-dollar fixed income portfolio. He has vast experience in board policy concentration and development, credit union mergers and various regulatory and operational issues.

Many people may not know this, but this is the second time Denley has worked at the League as a consultant. Prior to becoming the CEO for Bowater Employees Credit Union, Denley worked for the League for four years as a field representative consulting with credit unions in east Tennessee.

“We have had a missing piece in our operation that we were able to fill to assist credit unions with operational and board issues,” said Fred Robinson, TCUL president and CEO. “Denley will be working to put together a consulting group made of up of credit union experts to give the League a broader band of service in this area. We are excited that Denley joined us.”

Denley holds a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Management from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville, along with a Master of Business Administration from Haslam College of Business at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. In addition, he is a Credit Union Management School graduate from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia at Athens. He is a Certified Credit Union Executive (CCUE) awarded by Credit Union National Association. Furthermore, he has Tennessee Life, Health and Accident insurance licenses and passed the Financial Industries Regulatory Authority (FINRA) Securities Industries Essential (SIE) exam.

When not working, Denley enjoys a slow round of golf, bicycle riding and photography. He has been known to enjoy trout fishing, road trips to new places, relaxing under an umbrella on the beach with his wife and spending time with family and friends.
