On March 3, 2020, an EF3 tornado tore through the Nashville area leaving Anna Lambert a credit union employee, her family, and her entire neighborhood with severe property damage. Anna and her family had just built and moved into their home last September.
“Thankfully everyone was okay but the damage emotionally is still there. We had significant damage to our home and we are still not done with our contractor completing the work to our home”, said Anna.
Earlier this year the CU Social Good Committee of the Tennessee Credit Union League created a GoFundMe account to accept donations from the credit union community to provide financial support to small credit unions and credit union employees impacted by natural disasters and the pandemic. Funds raised from the generosity of credit unions, credit union organizations, and credit union employees across the state have helped fund the GoFundMe account. Anna and four other credit union employees recently received a grant from the fund. Anna said she will use the grant money to help with her insurance deductible and expenses she’s accumulated from the significant damages of her home from the tornado.
Anna is an employee of Southeast Financial Credit Union. When asked “What makes credit unions a great place to work?”, she said “Credit unions are a great place to work because you’re not just a number in the system. Upper management knows your name and who you are. I’ve been with my current credit union for almost nine years and I still very much enjoy working here. I think that speaks volumes when you’ve been with a company for so long”.
