Credit Union Professionals Create a Global Women’s Leadership Network Sister Society in Tennessee

The Tennessee Credit Union League and Strategic Resource Management are excited to announce the creation of the first Global Women’s Leadership Network (GWLN) Sister Society in Tennessee.

“The mission and vision of the Global Women’s Leadership Network came to our attention last year – and notably – the absence of a Sister Society in SRM’s home state of Tennessee,” said Brad Downs, CEO of presenting sponsor Strategic Resource Management, headquartered in Memphis. “It was a perfect opportunity for our team – in collaboration with the Tennessee League and our chairperson Donna Young – to step up and provide an outlet that will train, inspire, and empower the next generation of women leaders.”

The Global Women’s Leadership Network aims to provide women with the opportunity and resources to make a measurable difference in the lives of each other, in the lives of credit union members and in their communities.

“We are absolutely thrilled to inaugurate a Sister Society here in Tennessee for the Global Women’s Leadership Network,” said Fred Robinson, president and CEO of the Tennessee Credit Union League. “This inspiring group of Tennessee women demonstrates a profound commitment to advancing female leadership within the credit union community. Their dedication and enthusiasm are vital for shaping our industry’s more inclusive and diverse future.”

The World Council of Credit Unions established GWLN in 2009 to provide women in the credit union arena a safe forum to discuss issues to further their professional and personal journeys. Since its inception, 4,900 individuals engaged from 86 countries.

“The Global Women’s Leadership Network shares my passion for developing and promoting a diverse group of women in the credit union movement,” said Donna Young, president of Cornerstone Financial Credit Union and chair of Tennessee’s Sister Society. “The focus of connecting locally and internationally allows us to support education and development of women who aspire to grow and lead.”
