Cornerstone Financial Credit Union Supports Area Nonprofits

Cornerstone Financial Credit Union has supported their neighbors at the Ronald McDonald House Nashville for decades and have come to look forward to their Walk and Pull Tab Collection Drive every year. This year, with help from their members and team, collected 31+ pounds of tabs, which almost doubled their total from last year! They have set a new goal for 50 pounds next year and will be collecting throughout the year to reach this goal.

At the beginning of the year, Cornerstone collects suggestions from their entire team on what charities/nonprofits are important to them and then votes on two that they will support overall as an organization. This year, Wags and Walks of Nashville and the American Cancer Society were chosen, and they recently completed their fundraiser for the American Cancer Society with outstanding results!

Kicking things off, their staff donated to have a week of casual jeans days, put out “Making a Change with Change” Jars in the branches and also made donations available through Lumin for members to support the cause. During that first week, they raised over $1,100 alone and the second week was action-packed with as well with Bake Sales at the branches, while continuing to collect change and donations online. The Bake Sales and change that week brought in just under $1,000, which is A-MAZING – kudos to Nashville for leading the way at $350+ and Hendersonville having a smashing one-day sale collecting $250+!

During the week, they hosted a walk in Hillsboro Village where team members came in early to make the loop and there were 10 others who completed the required miles on their own, adding $240 to the pot.

Add all of this up – Jeans Days, member donations, change jars, bake sale, walk/hike/jog miles, personal donations and Cornerstone’s Match of $1,000, and they raised a grand total of $4,614.72 to be donated to the American Cancer Society!

Wags and Walks and ACS were Cornerstone’s top-voted charities to support this year and they proved it with their fundraising efforts.

Way to go, Cornerstone Team! Kudos to everyone who pitched in and this is another great example of what we can do when we all work together!
