Copper Basin Federal Credit Union Hosts Skip-A-Payment Community Giveback Program

Copper Basin Federal Credit Union helps relieve members’ financial stress through a Skip-A-Payment Community Giveback Program.

“As a credit union, one of our core values is putting people before profits,” said Jessica Grostic, president and CEO of Copper Basin Federal Credit Union. “We collected over $5,000 from our Summer Skip-A-Payment program and we donated it all back to the community. We randomly selected members and paid off their loans! It’s an honor to help our members and our community.”

Copper Basin Federal Credit Union started offering the program in June 2022. The financial cooperative has donated more than $22,000 to the community and members strictly through this program.

Members were overjoyed about having their loans paid off. Credit union employees often heard, “You guys are the best!” Members have cried, sent cards and usually show up the same day for a picture.

“Offering the Skip-A-Payment Community Giveback is important for the credit union because it upholds our mission of ‘in our community, for our community,’” said Grostic. “Being a low-income credit union and community development financial institution (CDFI), we have many members in our field of membership who struggle and live paycheck to paycheck. By paying off loans for our members, we are able to hopefully eliminate some of their financial stress.”
