Bowater Credit Union member John Duggan has won $1,000 from Bowater Credit Union to his favorite non-profit: Charleston/Calhoun Hiwassee Historical Society.
Bowater Credit Union has asked its members to nominate their favorite non-profit helping people in the counties eligible for credit union membership: Bradley, McMinn, Meigs, Monroe, and Polk. Charleston/Calhoun Hiwassee Historical Society is the first winner of 2018.
“The CCHHS is located in the Bradley and McMinn County area, but it is for all citizens young and old to learn about the rich history in our area along the Hiwassee River,” wrote Duggan. The donation made will be used to help with the current sidewalk projects in Charleston and the new addition to the Charleston/Calhoun Hiwassee Historical Society’s building. To complete the building CCHHS will be raising an additional $50,000. If you would like to make a donation to the Charleston/Calhoun Hiwassee Historical Society, you can contact them at HiwasseeRiverHeritageCenter@gmail.com
Any member of Bowater Credit Union can nominate their favorite non-profit for a $1,000 Pay It Forward prize. Four more prizes will be given out in 2018, and the deadline to be considered for the next prize is May 31, 2018
Bowater Credit Union began the Pay It Forward program in 2010 as a way to give back to the community it serves. Since the program’s inception, Bowater Credit Union has given $39,000 to various charities making a difference in our community. For more information, visit www.BowaterECU.org.
