Benefits of Leadership Coaching

As it is a universal role in our credit union world, coaching for leadership is instrumental in creating a future of success.

Copper Basin Federal Credit Union has implemented a leadership coaching system with a local leadership consultant and coach.

We start with new employees during their first 90 days with a strengths/personality test. This evaluation allows for management and peers to understand coworkers at a more neurological level. This is especially helpful in internal staff development and in understanding how our employees can best help members. These strengths can decipher what department employees will excel in, which, in turn, generates a positive environment for coworkers and our members.

After an initial strengths assessment and meeting with our coach, we ensure follow-up appointments with staff and the coach to establish a secure partnership. CBFCU has found it beneficial to begin quarterly staff development lessons with all employees.

Although we discuss Individual development plans during these sessions, our coach makes certain to involve all staff with group activities and team-building exercises. Establishing this bond between all staff, from teller to CEO, allows for more open communication during meetings, discussions and conflicts.
