On behalf of the Tennessee Credit Union League, we wish you a very happy International Credit Union Day! Thank you for helping to improve the financial well-being of all members.
We asked credit union leaders to share their ICU Day plans, and here’s a look at some of the festivities across the Volunteer State!
Copper Basin Federal Credit Union, Copperhill
“We are celebrating International Credit Union Day by hosting our 59th Annual Meeting,” said Jessica Grostic, president and CEO of Copper Basin Federal Credit Union. “Members will be served barbeque prior to the meeting to ensure full bellies for the main event. Each member will receive door prizes of custom hoodies and a ticket for a chance to win a cash prize. We hope to be serving our members well as we value them tremendously.”
Cornerstone Financial Credit Union, Nashville
“We are celebrating International Credit Union Day all week here at Cornerstone,” said Brendan Olsen, marketing and communications director at Cornerstone Financial Credit Union. “Each branch has received a stack of 20 gift cards to Chick-fil-A and Dunkin’ to hand out to members, we have contests going on Facebook and Instagram with a cooperative theme along with some education on what makes credit unions different and then we are wrapping it up with a cookout on Friday at all branches and drawings for Visa gift card prizes for the members. One of the best weeks of the year!”
Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union, Lynchburg
“Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union will celebrate by encouraging members and the community to stop by for refreshments, door prize giveaways and logo items,” said Pamela Case, CEO at Jack Daniel Employees’ Credit Union. “This year we are giving away logo mint containers with $ mints and vehicle trash receptacles. We also provide a community service aspect by hosting a blood drive. We will have a representative of a local assisted living facility on-site to answer questions and provide information to members. Employees greet and interact with members throughout the day on Thursday, and we will carry that on to our deposit day at the local elementary school. We have a special branch at our local elementary school where we will take deposits, provide prizes and financial literacy information to the students.”
Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union, Knoxville
“We are hosting Member Appreciation Day on Friday,” said Charlotte Havely, vice president of marketing at Knoxville TVA Employees Credit Union. “Each of our branches will be decorated for the festivities, and refreshments, snacks, door prizes and giveaways will be part of the fun. For kids 12 and under, as a way for us to promote early savings and financial education, the first $25 deposit is on us for any new Jump Start Savings Account opened on October 18. This is just our way of thanking our members for letting us be a part of their lives and communities for over 90 years!”
Scenic Community Credit Union, Chattanooga
“We have already put a message to our members on our branch TV screens and on social to invite them to celebrate with us on Thursday,” said Martin Stubblefield, CEO of Scenic Community Credit Union. “We will have a table set up at each branch with cupcakes, cookies, light snacks and drinks and will put up some decorations to celebrate.”
